Match Report
On a scorching day on the Lancashire coast, the A Team faced the Blackpool Scorpions in testing conditions both on and off the pitch. With traffic causing delays of up to 1 hour 45 minutes, the kick-off was pushed back, and the lads had little time to settle into the game.
Despite being down to just 16 players after a late 1st team call-up and eventually finishing with no substitutes, the boys showed great character throughout. Blackpool started strongly, using their full squad depth to good effect, but our defence stood firm for long periods under pressure.
Finlay Heighton and Cameron Richardson crossed for well-earned tries, with Josh Thompson adding one conversion, as the lads fought hard to stay in the contest. Ultimately, Blackpool’s fresher legs told in the final stages, and they pulled away to seal a 22-10 victory.
It was a gritty, determined display from our side, showing pride, spirit, and togetherness despite the adversity faced. Every man dug deep in the heat, and the effort put in was a credit to the team.
Blackpool’s Man of the Match picks for our lads were:
1. Tariq Atilgan
2. Jimmy Haydock
3. Finlay Heighton
Next up is Higginshaw at Home @ Lions Fest, 30th August. KO 13:30.
